457 Programme update

The 457 programme is performing the way it was intended to perform. The intention of this visa subclass is that it is for short-time labour market demands. Next year in 2012 it will be the biggest year for 457 visas. NSW and VIC will experience the highest number of 457 visa applications and DIAC have allocated additional funds to speed up processing. This will lead to a speeding up of 457 visa processing. There will be a 50% reduction in processing times which will result in the median processing time of 10 days for 457 visa applications submitted to DIAC.
